NEW Minecraft Snapshot 12w08a: Iron Golem – Overview

The Iron Golem comes crashing onto the new snapshot 12w08a. It defends villages with it’s mighty brutality and their hardened Iron shells make them amongst the toughest mobs in the game. The snapshot also brings improved world and lighting, as well as the ability to place stairs upside-down. Iron Golems roam villages slowly and are passive to the player. When provoked, Iron Golems will move toward their target at a faster rate, swinging their arms up violently once in range to attack. This does 3½ to 10 hearts damage to their target. They will attack Endermen, Zombie Pigmen, Blazes, Silverfish, Skeletons, Spiders, Cave Spiders, and Zombies if any come within their sight. They will attack the player if the player attacks it first, or if the player attacks a Villager (Only in Survival Mode). The Iron Golem does not have to directly see the player attacking a Villager to become hostile toward the player. They do not despawn if the difficulty is switched to peaceful and will continue to attack the player. Iron Golems do not attack Creepers, likely due to a Creepers destructive nature which may destroy sections of the village. They also do not attack Slimes, Magma Cubes, or Ghasts. It is possible for Iron Golems to accidentally attack one another, although this will deal no damage nor provoke them against each other. This video will give some very helpful tips on how to use your Golden Tools more efficiently. Diamond Ore is generally considered to be one of the most valuable and elusive blocks in the game. It can be mined for a diamond gem using an Iron or Diamond Pickaxe. Diamond ore can be obtained by the enchantment Silk Touch on a pickaxe. Therefore you can use the Diamond ore block to create traps or even decoration. Alternatively you can collect it to save for later to collect with a Fortune enchantment. But the trouble is it’s elusiveness. This Level 12 Mining technique greatly helps you find them. You also find many other useful minerals and enough cobblestone for 4 Castles! The best kind of mining for diamonds!

Minecraft Mob Guide – The Ocelot

The latest Minecraft update, version 1.2(yet to be released) will bring us the Ocelot, a new passive mob. This video will go into detail about these felines. This is the fifth episode in a series of Minecraft Mob Guides, where we look at all the hostile AND passive mobs in Minecraft in detail. In this episode, we take a look at the Ocelot. These nice creatures can be tamed and become house cats. These guys are nice to have around. In their natural habitat, these felines will welcome you to the jungle. Ocelots are passive mobs that normally spawns in Jungle Biomes. They are the second tameable mob to be introduced into Minecraft, the first being Wolves. The Ocelot is a mainly passive, ‘shy’ mob which will not attack the player. Should the player move or look too abruptly near one, it will sprint away. Ocelots are the first mob with the ability to sprint, as well. If enclosed and unable to escape, they will stand still until an exit is made, after which they will quickly sprint through it. Wild Ocelots will occasionally slowly sneak up on chickens, then proceed to pounce and kill. However, their behavior when taming takes priority over this behavior. To tame an Ocelot, the player must be holding Raw Fish while standing perfectly still and not looking around too quickly. It will slowly approach the player, and while in this state, using Raw Fish on it will tame it, changing it to one of the three tame ‘cat’ types. This will also end its shy behavior.
