Currently I get to lvl 30 like once every three or four *hours* if I’m
randomly breeding animals and smelting stuff, maybe twice as fast if I’m
down in the caves fighting monsters while mining redstone and coal, but
that’s way too long to be reliable.
The only feasible way to get a steady supply of endgame gear like
Efficiency V Picks and Looting III Swords was to set up an exp farm. And I
think Mojang once said that they don’t like mob farms. But now since a lvl
30 enchant doesn’t drop you back to zero, you can keep pumping out great
enchants reasonably quickly without an exp farm
Also in 1.7.4, if you’re running around outside your base 50 blocks from
your bed and you just did a level 30 enchant, there’d be nothing to worry
about; if you die you won’t lose any levels because you just spent them all.
In this snapshot if you die right after doing a level 30 enchant you’ll
lose 27 levels. More incentive to stay alive in a non-hardcore world

Etho if you get a looting 3 book you can put that on a stick and that could
be your enderman farming stick i did it in my survival world and it is so
useful

The amount of damage you can take from TNT, in my experience, gets to be
less and less per the amount of TNT going off to some degree. People really
freak out about large TNT explosions where everything blows up at once,
while the really bad ones are TNT explosions involving a few TNT blowing up
in succession and pushing each other around (killing you then destroying
your items.)

Etho, This comment has probably been asked a lot but I would like to ask
you something. What recording software do you use when you record your
Episodes of Minecraft and how long does it take approx to upload a 30 min
Episode to youtube? Big fan keep up the good work :)

I figured it out for enchanting!
The levels on the right are how much you need to UNLOCK it, then you need
the levels and lapis on the left to enchant it for that!

Magma cream block should be able to speed you up leaving a trail of fiery
sparks. Much like the smokey flame part on top of the torch. To make it
balance maybe you can only go in that direction you were looking at. So it
could be really useful for mini games and a lot of other small things.

+Fricktion how would you get down other than landing on a slime block or
falling in water?
BTW Etho, you require 30 levels to get the enchant but only 3 to use so it
makes players more cautious because if they die that 30 levels they have to
regain to be able to enchant again. And as you said it take WAY longer to
level up so maybe Mojang is using this to make player survival skills
better for when they eventually change the combat system.
