Sorry, but you can’t use a texture pack to change the lighting temperature. :/
Also, if you run out of ideas, you could create a proper spawning place (other then a bed outside).

perhaps bonemeal the ground in that little garden and trim out some of the long grass to get that random flower effect

This is just an idea, but maybe, for the bridge, have it going slightly up (2 or 3 blocks) at the start, go across and then back down again, to create a slight upwards curve, using the same materials but possibly wooden planks and stairs instead of slabs. Just an idea.

Etho replace the logs with upside down stairs on the bridge so that they extend out and go down but get a different look, plus they are fireproof :D

Put arches on the bottom of the bridge (connecting the bottom to the side of the wall) it would make it side profile better, and prevent lava setting the logs on fire. Also try and incorporate a flower bed using trapdoors and grass blocks. Good job on the expansion Etho!
