hey Paul! Since you have a bow you have basically unlimited ammo. Sticks
from trees, stones+campfire= scrap metal, scrap metal can craft nails,
nails+sticks= 3 arrows each!

I think they should build the base on a personal server with just them so
it can’t get griefed in a stupid way while they are offline, and then play
on synced servers for scavenging and stuff, that way you still get to fight
people.

You are going to have to be careful about logging in, zombies will spawn in
your bunker! Also, barbed wire fences are GREAT defense barriers :)
