Minecraft – Tutorial: Practical Mob System

This tutorial teaches you how to build my practical hostile mob system. Pros: Compact, Easy, Quick, & Cheap to build. Doesn’t cause block updates that would cause lag to your game. Works well in SMP. Cons: Lower efficiency. Mobs are not forced off spawning pads so they may get stuck. Mobs will not spawn within 24 blocks of your player. Mobs will despawn if over 32 blocks from your player. Mobs will go into sleep mode if over 32 blocks from your player. Mobs will almost instantly despawn if over 128 blocks from your player. Mobs can spawn in any loaded chunk in light levels 7 or less. Mobs are more likely to spawn in dark areas as they approach light level 0.

Minecraft – Darkness Falls – Part 21

In this new series the Crew must save the world of Minecraft from an evil dragon who has cast a spell turning the world to eternal darkness. The Crew are the only heroes near the dragons home and have only one day cycle before it is night forever. Our band of heroes must stay alive and reach the end, kill the evil dragon, and save the world of Minecraft! The difficulty is set up for this series, and if you die a remaining player must sacrifice a diamond in lava to bring that player back in the game. On your second death two diamonds must be sacrificed and so on. If all players die before someone can be brought back, the game is over, and the world of Minecraft stays dark forever.
