they don`t need light,but the growth rate is not affected by light or any other environmental factors.

you can make more fences of netherbrick just but them the same way as sticks

@WTFMinecraft Put the sugar canes on sand and they grow faster. You can make nether brick fence woth 6 nether brick in the crafting table like a fence.

you can craft neither fences and neither stairs with neither bricks.
