Your gunna need some blocks on the top of the spawner, all the way up to the ceiling, otherwise the skeletons could spawn on top of the spawner

Drowning is probably the most inefficient method. Make it a fall trap!

paul when minecraft 1.5 comes ouy you can make the stuff fall in to a hopper that will lead to a chest
