You’re right, Paul, as long as the chunk is in the range of the rendering visibility, anything that can grow, will grow.
However, I’ve come to notice that the stuff grows slower if you’re not on the same chunk as your farm.

Destroy the fence replace it with a block place it down destroy the block and put the fence back down…

To put a pumpkin on fences take down the fence, put dirt where you want to put the fence, place the jack-o-lantern on the dirt, then break the dirt and put your fence! Now you have it on a fence
