Minecraft – Tutorial: Practical Mob System
This tutorial teaches you how to build my practical hostile mob system. Pros: Compact, Easy, Quick, & Cheap to build. Doesn’t cause block updates that would cause lag to your game. Works well in SMP. Cons: Lower efficiency. Mobs are not forced off spawning pads so they may get stuck. Mobs will not spawn within 24 blocks of your player. Mobs will despawn if over 32 blocks from your player. Mobs will go into sleep mode if over 32 blocks from your player. Mobs will almost instantly despawn if over 128 blocks from your player. Mobs can spawn in any loaded chunk in light levels 7 or less. Mobs are more likely to spawn in dark areas as they approach light level 0.

i dont think that mob system can support the enderman, since it transports them using water, i assume they would just teleport away?

MC Edit FTW

Yep, and they need 40 blocks to fall and die

Cheers Etho. already have one going in my survival world. I don’t think it is 5 layers yet so I’ll tweak that. Has anyone noticed mob spawning bring slower in 1.3.1?

Tks Ethos , i was playing Sky block the other day , could not find the episode where you build that so. Now there you go very god , simple ,efficient mob drop machine.

I think 23 blocks is the exact number to kill a mob, 22 would be 0.5 heart. Also don’t forget to reset their fall since they come from different heights.

It’s not meant to anyway, the height above the pads are only 2 blocks high, which isn’t enough for them to spawn

How do yo make that shape

you also gain squid out of it, if youre far enough away from water (at first i was kinda confused and thought some of the mobs drop inksac as a rare drop, lol)

LOLLOL!

actually i use a way different system that is simpler, and more efficient because it adds to the spawn area dramatically. Simply make a 12×12 or 14×14 area and in the middle put a 3×3 hole, i have NEVER seen anyone build a 3 wide hole in one of their systems, then just do the usual water stuff, and it works very well, because of the extra space for mobs to fall they don’t clog up, and you can get spiders as well. Only one layer of this has a faster drop rate than his entire system. I have never

@TWTAGaming He usually uploads anything under 15 minutes in 720p.

Lots of circles.

Anyone know the LP episode where he makes his potion room?
August 8th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Awesome Etho, this was much easier to follow than the one in you LP.

That’s the despawning condition. The 144*144 sq. area affects mob spawning. Oh yeah, it’s cube area not square area my bad.

even tried seeing how effecient 2 layers or more would even be
