no you dont get XP when you first mine it, i think its because you get XP when you smelt it.

You don’t get the XP maybe because Gold and iron can be mined and placed. You may get XP if you mine it fresh from the rock but if you place it and mine it you may not get it.

finally xp for mining … that was something I’ve been waiting for! I mean since mining is still the main purpose of Minecraft, it would’ve been idiotic to only get XP from fighting

those plants are so good on jungle trees so more likely we can get brown sheep and cookies and hopefully in the next update chocolate

You should have linked the tripwire to a dispenser with chicken eggs in it… Every time one is killed, another spawns =P
