Make a redstone torch and use the torch trick like you would on gravel or
sand

Why not make an iron pickaxe then use that on the iron blocks to make tools
and armour and a sword in a crafting table or in the custom table if it
works?

Breny, in the CM put 1 stick on the bottom line and middle and a redstone
in the middle and make a redstone torch so you can harvest sand faster :D
