Actually, I really hate to burst your bubble, but when you remove all the leaves touching the wood some of the leaves that aren’t touching leaves next to the wood will decay naturally. I think you owe this kind sir an apology.

it depends. it can take up to 5 minutes for a single tree to fully decay.
