You can heal Shorty By trowing a potion of Healing Our Regeneration on him
then he will heal

I found a way to heal your Minions!!!
You will need to craft an “Amethyst Bucket”. Go to the “Promised Land”
Biome, by going through the portal that was made with the “Ancient Staff.
Use the Amethyst Bucket and scoop up some “Spring Water”. The spring water
gives the player a Regeneration effect. If you make a spot where you could
place the water on the ground with micro blocks around it or slabs or
something to contain the spring water, your minion would be able to walk
into the spring water and heal him/her/it’s self.
