no the florans havent gone crazy, they were born crazy. i mean theyre
florans for kluex sake. they stab anything that they can eat and eat

If you don’t want to clutter your inventory with stuff, you can press N to
use a “look” cursor.
And to make the console operate the door, you’ll need a Wiring Table.

Now that I think about it, if you opened the prison doors and a guard was
near it, there could have been a fight between the prisoner and the guard.

You need to get wires to make that thing work.

You make that panel open the door by getting a wire tool and wires, and
then you can connect them with left click, and disconnect them with
right click.
