the light coming through the blocks is a glitch with minecraft atm, the same thing happened to me when i made my Spider spawner in skyblock. If you don’t know what that is, there is a video on the skyblock page. for some reason the ice was giving off light. i find that if i replace the blocks when it is not exposed to sunlight (in a dark room, not night) the light doesn’t come through the blocks.

If you have more grass blocks around when you use the bone meal more grass will grow because it effects the blocks around it to, so if you do that you will have a much higher chance of getting seeds.
