Nice one X! Just a small question: How long did you play till now on your
save?
Sincerly

At 0:30 the map shows that the aliens have to cross an isthmus to get to
your iron outpost. Instead of putting turrets by the outpost, put them on
the isthmus.
Good video by the way :)

+xisumavoid Your belt throughput could probably be optimised further. Turns
out that blue belts don’t necessarily have higher throughput. Read this

X, how about splitting the belts that come from the iron mines into the
train loading area? That way, there will be more belt capacity, and they
won’t get backed up, preventing the mines from keeping on with the mining.

I bought Factorio after seeing how much fun it looks on here. :-) One
thing I highly recommend is making little outposts with a radar dish or 2,
walls, and 2 rows of laser turrets. Here’s why:
-Better information on the map from the radar. See where attacks are
coming from, where the trains are, etc
-They will draw aggro for enemies on the way to your main base
-Less attacks on your main base makes it easier to defend, and if the
outpost is destroyed you can easily recover and build a new one
-They make it harder for enemies to form new bases, since enemies tend to
aggro on the outpost instead of staying in one spot and forming a new nest
-Later on you can upgrade them with a roboport. You can place the roboport
down and materials down, power it, and use a blueprint to make the entire
base. Leave some repair packs and materials so the outpost stays
operational, and you get the side benefit of automatically repairing your
car when you’re near one.
-They’re good as a starting point for future attacks, and a great fallback
area.
Overall, I’m loving the series!

Xisuma you should try out the game Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, but you can
wait a while because a new Roller Coaster Tycoon is coming out early 2015.

Dude, you should definetely build the combat shotgun and rely more on that
than laser turrets when attacking enemy bases. It’s far more powerful than
a couple of turrets and using it is faster and cheaper as your turrets
won’t die as often.

I like trains, *ran* *over* *by* *train*

I like trains…
Your attacks are really,, unorganized
I still think it’s weird that you need to power a diesel locomotive with
coal
You can see the train on the mini map if it’s in radar range

If you use like two or three exoskeletons I think there called you can out
run the aliens.

Did you know you can hold left click to place the electric poles the
furthest distance from each other?

just spent three or four hours clearing out bases with my power armor and
my combat shotgun. Finally got sick of all the butchery and thought to
myself, “hey, let’s see if xisuma has posted any new videos lately”, and
what do you know–more alien slaughtering xD

Thanks for the mention, I really appreciate it!
So, When you told the train to go the first time it started off in the
waiting stage because it was already parked at one of the stations. The
reason you had trouble with the go to station button was that it doesn’t
operate when the train is active, even if it’s not moving, and I expect
that it didn’t work the second time because the train was rolling. Also,
because of the viewpoint used in factorio, trains are shorter when facing
north-south than east west, which is why there’s a little more weirdness
with inserters there.

Hey X, corners like the ones that you were using at your iron depot
(unnecessary ones) SEVERELY kill throughput on the conveyors (make them
slower and back up like you were seeing.)
