Is it due to your bed being over a beacon, and the beacons particles acting as a wall, pushing you up to the closest platform?

Does Etho usually read the comments before he does the rest of the video? Because at the end, the ice door was still there, but the start showed him replacing the ice with quartz and clay. :p
