Ahhh, Paul the reason you are a higher level than the people you are playing with is because you are getting challenges unlocked and gaining extra XP off them, because you are killing more than them they are not getting as many challenges, if you keep an eye on the top of your screen you will see them pop up, like so he sees

to get better quests for you level you should go to the begin town and there is an information board with quests for your level
