I just built this in 1.1 SSP and it won’t work with a delay of 3. It has to be 4 or it doesn’t work for me.

Haha! I invented this 6 months ago [video proof in my channel], glad to see that people are still finding these older redstone circuitry useful since pistons have revolutionized redstone. Great job on dissecting and explaining how it works!

I can remember making t flip-flops when repeaters weren’t around. God, they were a pain to make, taking up spaces of about 7x3x10 or so….

@arazu88 Its more compact and pretty much delay turning on. And I find it funny that you call a little bit of delay a problem.

@jakeycool8899 His is 4x4x4 which is 64 and mine is 2x5x4 which is 40 so mine is 28 blocks smaller i don’t think so

@LevanEvan The problem I see with yours is that it takes a full clock cycle on every other button press. This does not.

My best guess as to why the button needs to reset the latch is so that it delays the clock. Because it’s only using one clock, it wouldn’t work to let the clock run for the exact amount of time it needs to switch signals. Instead, if the latch is already on, the clock’s signal is delayed, but the latch needs to be reset in order for it to do any good.
I’m not 100% on this to be honest, but that’s my best guess at why the button resetting the latch and the timing are so important.
