Best viewed in full screen at 1080p! Official site: www.illwinter.com Desura: www.desura.com “Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, eg the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The witch can use fungus to summon a catoblepas whose gaze can annihilate an entire row of enemies per turn. The demonologist can summon powerful demon lords, but only if he is brave because the likelihood of a demon lord attacking his summoner is quite high. In short the main thing about this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used.” BLOG: paulsoaresjr.com TWITTER twitter.com FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com FAQ: www.youtube.com

@carltonbauheimer Look, if you pay attention, you’ll see that the overall price of video games through digital distribution has gone down a lot. Moreover recent successful indies from genres that were thought of as obscure, such as Dungeons of Dredmor, have had great success with very low prices. Even Spiderweb Software are charging less.

This mentality of “I’ll charge a premium because my game is obscure and I won’t have many customers” is outdated and is a perverse, self-fulfilling prophecy.

Game looks rather interesting, so I went to check out their page. WHAT?! Dominions 3 is $54.95 ??? And Elysium 3 is 30$… I never pay 60$ even for a AAA game, I pick them up on sale at 15$, so if they want customers they better do a reality check.
Until I’m rich, it’s gonna be either Yarrr! which may lead to later purchase, or just ignore them which will lead to forgetting they even exist.

@paulsoaresjr Paul! got any awesome games like CoE3 or civ5? ive been in the mood for a good strategy game relating to territory take over and the sorts. Battle of wesnoth looks nothing like CoE3

  4. carltonbauheimer Says:

@isitanos Soooo… you HAVEN’T actually played any of their games? And you’re saying their games are overpriced based on a simple price comparison to other games and not the value of the game being addressed? Oh, ok. I gotcha.

    Play more towns

Hey, Elysium is kind of a heaven in the “old greek” days. geek mythlogy, y’know

  7. isitanos Says:

@carltonbauheimer Ummm… sorry but you’re being delusional here. It *is* ugly as fuck. Not so much the sprite art which is decent, but the overall presentation: horrendous red squares behind units, menus that have zero art to them, unexplored part of the map is ugly. Not to mention the animations: exactly, there are basically none.

It’s not a question of 3D, much older 2D games such as the Heroes of Might and Magic series and Age of Wonders have both better art, sound and overall presentation.

Please do a test drive of dominion

@isitanos You say a lot about their games being overpriced, but did you ever play Dominions 3? There are plenty of players like myself who have had that game for 5-6 years and been playing it constantly. Most AAA games I get have a value in $’s per hour I played. Dom3 it was fractions of pennies per hour of play. It has been a mainstay on three different computers of mine. So no, $30 for their game is not overpriced. It is a steal.

@paulsoaresjr You should try out Evochron Mercenary. It’s a massive space sim with good graphics made by one person by himself. The file is also incredibly small at only 228mb! It also has multiplayer mode that uses the same profile as single player similar to terraria.Despite a small file it’s incredibly good you should try it!

Playing games for the graphics is like watching porn for the story.

@isitanos I’ll agree that game could use work on the interface. It would add a lot more immersion if the GUI looked more thematic, or just polished. I’ve made that suggestion on some of the discussion threads where the beta testers are. We’ll see if anybody was paying attention; the game is STILL actively being worked on. As for the red squares: they have different colors to choose from, but what would serve the same purpose and somehow look better? Make a suggestion.

  14. isitanos Says:

@carltonbauheimer Maybe some kind of ornate golden frame around the unit, or even still a square but only around the edge with a pulsating glow… or they could go 100% for the “cardboard counter look” like some Wargames. For god’s sake, they should just look at youtube videos of other strategy games and learn from that. Civ V in particular has a good interface, then there’s Wesnoth, Age of Wonders, HoMM series…

Anyways, not sure why I rant about an overpriced game I won’t be able to buy.

oh meh god!! this looks leik the worst grafix on ah game everz!

^Average comment of someone who can’t appreciate a good game^

  16. isitanos Says:

@carltonbauheimer In any case, I never said “I want them to improve it”. They can perfectly argue that it’s ugly because they’d rather spend time on the gameplay, but saying it looks good is just ridiculous.

  17. isitanos Says:

I haven’t and I now have a new reason not to: it has annoying fanboys.

  18. isitanos Says:

@DHristovTV Because they are only two people instead of hundreds of people working on the game, maybe?

  19. carltonbauheimer Says:

    @TheGuffy1990 haha well said

  20. carltonbauheimer Says:

@Pinky2950 If you like games like Elemental, you should at least check out the demo for Dominions III, which is the previous game made by this company. Tooooooons of depth.
