hey xisuma, noob question but why dont the 4 seeds in the corners grow? every melon farm ive seen has root looking things that I guess are the seeds alongside the actual grown melon/pumpkins…what causes the roots not to grow :S keep in mind I have never farmed melons or pumpkins…you know what I mean? like with wheat the seed grows into the wheat, but it seems the melon seed causes the melon to grow in the adjacent block? Thanks! and keep up the awesome vids you are in my fav youtuber atm

Hey xisumavoid, I took a look at your excellent tutorial and tackled the challenge of fixing the inherent problem in the build. Posting a video response for the fix. As it turns out my version also uses slightly less redstone. The resulting farm is actually so good, and so efficient I’m reconsidering the one I have in my world now and replacing it with the resulting design. Let me know what you think. =)

the idea is good, but it is possible to make this kind of farm way more redstone efficient… I mean you can save like half the material you use here.

thats ok. if you can find melons in an abandoned mineshaft, melons can be an extremely reliable food source. they’re quik to grow, too. go on the minecraft wiki for info on everything.

watermelon is a type of melon, so technically melon is correct

Very true :P Sethblings was sandstone (as you know, he likes sandstone :P) so no chance of a fire…

well, with melons/pumpkins, one seed is just about permanent. a random adjacent block (on dirt of course) will sprout the pumpkin/melon. this is why melons are my favourite source of food.

Can you make a tutorial on how to install your version of Sonic Ether’s unbelievable shaders please? Thumbs up if you agree!!

however if you did a complete melon farm on one side then you won’t collect all the melon drops from each melon because they have a chance of falling on to the other blocks.
