JOHN! You can solve that minecart station entrance problem by putting a (permanently) powered rail right below the “door” (sticky piston w/stone). You might need to put the other power rails a bit further away from each other, though.

John, for choosing to go backwards on the tracks you could create a 3 stop station like up in your tree house but have a loop and choose which way the loop turns so you can go back either way… I hope that makes sense :P and for your house you should have one of the doors to go in and the other to go out so it’s simpler. :)
