A creeper didnt have friends so it suicided to make the portal somewhere else :)

If one or the other portal broke it creates a new portal somewhere in the world

A creeper blue it up then the game made a nother neather portal so you are not stuck in the neather

This isn’t a theory: when a portal is destroyed but players are still in the nether they are allowed back into the over world because minecraft creates a new portal within a certain radius so when Alicia came through and blew up the portal minecraft was forced to create a new portal for Piper and Giz

If you are in the nether and your portal gets destroyed in the main would them minecraft creates a backup portal for you so you can still escape
