I believe the soul sand was to stop the minecart and stop it from bouncing
on the block, since it is a little lower, but its been some time :p

Not to be a hipster but I loved old minecraft so much more, it just had
such a better feel when I played it and I don’t really know how to describe
it but now minecraft feels to standard apmost , I feel like it was easier
to be different and easier to be creative back then and now its all kinda
blah……

I played from 1.1 to 1.6 then in 1.4 I “resumed” looking at this world!
Damm that’s awesome! I still remember when the terrain wasn’t updated
frequently, and you could update your old world without messing out in the
terrain! Those were some good times(And updates).

The soul sand is for auto launching (you don’t need a push!) cool, but I
have been playing since beta 1.5 something!

Very nice tour. It brought back so many memories of me playing on my first
server. They had a few self-made mods and twice a week we would fight as a
faction against other factions about territory and stuff. It was awesome.

I think the soulsand (which is shorter than the other blocks) is there so
the minecart doesnt move :P
