I like having the picture on the side of the big cubes, but both are good. The one thing 1 would do is put some thing inside the cubes like the iron blocks in the iron cube, or an enchantment table in the diamond cube. Whatever it is I think there needs to be some thing inside to fill the space.

Xisuma, sethbling made a system on this (the capture-the-point thingy) which uses command blocks, and when there are more players, the point will be captured faster.

You should make the diamond pixel art, light blue instead of cyan

You could stand in the item to get the items spawn (mean that they are 3 blocks behind

Xisuma, you can scan for players anywhere using command blocks, However, the command block has to be in a loaded chunk for it to work.

@xisumavoid
Actually, teleplate could work, if we consider it’s a pressure plate teleporter ;)

The second option looks alright, although it might not be as easy to see due to height. You could line the pixel art with obsidian, most items have a black outline either ways. If you going to implement turrets on CC2, the pixel art might not survive if there is only one of them. Maybe having the pixel art in a diagonal inside the cube so it’s visible from every angle, unless you put the cubes facing the player. When announcing that the cube has been taken over, will it say which kind of cube?

xisuma: As towards the idea of using bedrock to stop mob spawns — Use sethbling’s “setbiome” filter to set the map to mushroom island. This will stop spawns on all blocks.
