You can pull a redstone block back when horizontal or downwards, it’s only upwards where it creates a quasi-connected piston. Do some research before assuming your ill-informed knowledge is right. This design would work with a redstone block.

You can push the redstone block with a piston, but you can’t pull it.

well, there could have bent some stramge behavior of the piston becouse of the red block powering even when piston retracted

-_- you can’t either pull a normal block with a piston. Use a sticky one instead and you’ll pull both redstone block and normal block
