Keralis, you always say you are bad at English, but you actually amaze me
with your fluency. I’ve been taking Spanish for five years (albeit, while I
was highly distracted, jumping around from school to school, and with huge
gaps between each session), but still barely manage to hold a conversation
without gripping my textbook or a translation book. Yet you manage to speak
English flawlessly, with even less of an accent than my grandmother who was
born speaking Dutch and has been speaking English for seventy of her ninety
years.
I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t worry about the people who chastise
you for having a slightly limited vocabulary; they will always find
something to be mean about, and it’s likely they are no where near
bilingual.
