Hi +Xisuma Void I used your chicken farm design and compacted it and has
turned out to be much better and works on all types of minecraft (I made it
on the console).

Wow X love the compactness and redstone ideas. Never thought to use
pressure plates to activate a water stream like that. I’m always finding
inspiration from things you build. It’s cool that I got to inspire you :)

A AFK vine farm only makes sense if you build it bigger. If you look at the
growth algorithm for vines, you’ll notice that it takes on average 18.2
minutes for a vine to grow. Thus your farm, that isn’t expandable and only
has 9 vines, will yield about half a stack of vines per hour. If for
example someones goal is 5 stacks of vines he either has to AFK for 10
hours or just do it manually in 5 minutes. You should spend more than 15-20
minutes to create a farm in order to think it through.

What was the reason to not go with minecarts? I could imagine it is quite
difficult to make the cart move slow enough yet still reach the end where
there would be a power rail or something.

There’s one thing you haven’t thought about. Starving! If it’s on hard
you’ll starve :/

Wouldn’t it be better/easier if the blocks between the water and vines were
backwards stairs? That way you’d have more space to aim when shearing he
vines. Could possibly use slabs too, but that might mess things up with the
water.

nice work on this one, xisuma!

I thought this video would be 6 seconds long!

Thanks, Xisuma! Just thinking – did you try using stairs instead of full
blocks, and would that allow you to angle the mouse down a little more?
Anyway, this is awesome because I’m working on a custom forest biome and
definitely need a lot of vines for trees and floating islands. My normal
vine farm yields about 3 stacks per harvest but this would be a great way
to get some extra vines while I’m asleep. You’re the man! =^)

Hi X! How are you? That farm is awesome btw :-)

For AFK farming, if you don’t want to have to reassign keys you can hold
down your mouse button, hit F11 (toggle fullscreen) and while the window is
adjusting release the mouse button. You can hit F11 again and this won’t
undo the “ghost clicking”. When the window is small you can alt-tab out
and do other stuff on your computer. Or leave, your choice. I prefer this
method because it takes less clicks/button presses.

this is kinda a ripoff of twopiggles design he just made. only its not as
good. you get like, 4 times better rates and you auto refil your inventory
with shears with like a million more

Is there a reason you didnt use minecarts instead of water stream ?

How is this better than having vines hanging from some ledge with a bunch
of hoppers underneath and just standing behind them (I mean, like… to the
side… parallel with them) and holding down LMB/any button you assign. The
standard reach of the player is pretty much this length anyway. This is
just a waste of resources.
