I think you should maybe be able to smelt red sand into grit, or rock salt?
You can use it on an individual side of a slime block and it goes brown
tinted, that side will no longer stick? Kind of like salt kills a slug?
Salt kills a slime… You could also use this salt item like bonemeal on
snow and whereas bonemeal would plant flowers, this salt would remove snow
and ice randomly in a certain area. Please like this if its a worthwhile
idea!

actually the update order just prevents the piston from extending again
when you place a second block in front of it, it still moves fine, just
update the piston!
Btw, there are a LOT of blocks you can use for doorframes: Obsidian,
furnace, Noteblock, Pumpkin, Melonblock, extended piston, leaves, … just
use your imagination!
