I have 8gb ram, should I only set as 2 gb then or as I have now, 4 gb?

You are probably trying to allocate 8 gigs of RAM but your computer doesn’t have it.

Allocating more RAM to Minecraft though will take RAM away from other tasks, so multitasking will get worse.

Type in ‘processor’ in the search thingy from w7, click the first result and there you should find your ram

I have just 4GB ram on my pc. Does anyone know if using half your ram on minecraft is too much? I mean the default works fine for me but it just barely makes it to 30 fps.

The computer used for the video is out of date for alot of people, aswell as the fact most of us are ENGLISH, not GERMAN

you cant change the , rendering engine. it wont even make a difference, allocate 64gb of ram,
same shit

Maybe you allocated too much RAM so there wasn’t enough for other services? (I’m not sure though)

-Xmx4G sets the max JVM memory heap to 4G. The JVM will allow the heap to grow up to that size. If you know the heap is going to be getting large quickly, you can improve startup performance by setting a starting size with -Xms1G (for 1G of ram.) If you set -Xmx too large, the JVM performance can actually suffer. I have a 4G laptop and use -Xmx1G -Xms512M.
