fast minecart mob grinding – minecraft
SORRY SUPER RUSHED VIDEO – commentary not really in sync. i’ll do a better vid after 1.6 if it still works. you should be able to see what is going on but i realise this vid explains things pretty horribly. enjoy.

@dvdlesher you need seperate ones or you can put several towers in a row. this desing is optimized for tall hostile mobs or anything with 10 hearts health. someone suggested several towers in a row could be used to give you seperate piles of loot, because each kind of mob would die in a different tower. sunlight messes things up too, so skeles/zombies might need seperate grinder.

This is by far one of the coolest uses for minecarts I’ve seen to date. Good job outdoing your last video ;p
Also have a very strong feeling notch is giving us minecarts float on lava in the way boats do on water in the next patch. No guarantees, but it seems like a really simple fix and seems logical he would add it after spending a few days going through and fixing bugs. We can only hope right?

What’s the dmg/s with this design?
I read that lava does 5 dmg on contact so this should be around 5dmg/s?
Then it’s the fastest way to kill mobs? Or is there any faster ways?

Does this cart dropping tower work in 1.4 as well? Water pushes carts in 1.4, but not 1.5. It’s a bug, so we might expect the carts to start moving again in 1.6..

That is really cool
Other traps might work better but that one is funny and entertaining to watch:)

@fenderbend the item/cart seperation was only 3 or 4 blocks high in 1.4. also you could launch them into any shape of water pool and it would still work. i hate the towers and really hope water starts pushing carts again.sooon!!! c’mon 1.6!

See if you can make a chicken sitter, and then I can show you a way to get rid of the chickens via cacti.

@nvolcz this is a very slow grinder because it only kills one (tall hostile) mob at a time. it is also the most expensive kind of grinder there is. i think the damage is 2 per lava because the water puts out the fire quickly, and it takes 5 lava hits to kill. the fastest ways to kill mobs are a with simple ‘lava-blade’ type of grinder or just letting them fall to their death.
things have changed a bit in 1.7 so i’m making a new video with a more detailed explaination. i’ll pm you when it’s up.
