Hey xisuma for the next myth busting episode I would like to see if higher
light levels increase the chance for a plants growth stage to change.
(wheat, carrots, saplings, sugar cane, possibly grass spread, ect.)

I don’t really think this and last episode’s mythbusting were really fair
because the test ran simultaneously. I think these test should be done in
such a way that you test the bonemeal-ed batch first, then test the
not-bonemeal-ed batch. This is because in this current test you’re using,
(I’m not sure how saplings work but take this as an example). Let’s say the
game decides that 5 saplings should be updated every 10 ticks, these
randomly chosen saplings can be any sapling. And in this test, it’s also
possible that the game has chosen the the bonemeal-ed sapling batch (left
side) more often. Meaning, all of these may have just occured by chance.
This is possible considering that animals have a pattern of moving such
that at one point, they will all move towards North West, it’s also
possible that this sapling-to-tree process can be affected by direction.
I’m not sure if the way I presented this makes sense, but I hope it’s taken
into consideration

If you put two slabs on top of each other and silk touch them, will they
come out a full block?

With new trees, leaves and saplings the code may have changed.
If the code that was used to confirm this was before 1.7 update, ~200,000
lines are different in the new code.
This figure is from the video – Minecon 2013: Future of Minecraft Panel at
around 3 minutes.
Not trying to bust your myth busting video, that would be an achievement as
you are very thorough in your tests. :)

Hey xisuma, I have been playing on your XPD creative server, and really
enjoying it. Until recently when you removed the use of minecarts. You see
me and my friend snakes1011 had just finished building a large roller
coaster on his plot. I understand that minecarts cause lag, but not that
much and surely you could just limit it so you can only have 2 or 3
minecarts per plot! I hope you take this into consideration and talk to the
moderators about it!
Thanks

Does using a sword to block really help deflect damage? Seems to help a
little but not sure by how much…not sure if u could do a mythbust of
this…Wish they would add shields to the game…thatd be sweet.

Do one to see whether particle effects are effected by cobwebs, while I was
clearing out cobwebs it appeared particle effects were being slowed by the
cob web

Xisumavoid, I was wondering if you could test if the Enchantments on a
Fishing Rod (1.7) would affect the amount of fish you catch. This is
because I had just watched Mumbo Jumbo’s video and when he tried using an
enchanted fishing rod, he didnt catch much fish.

I am actually going to have to disagree with you on this one. While the
trees with bone meal applied to them dud grow sooner, that was because they
already had gone through all of the invisible changes. Once the trees with
out bone meal applied to them reached that threshold, the rate the two
batches of trees were growing was the same. It happened sooner, but was not
any more likely.

As far as I remember saplings have multiple grow stages just like crops,
though the stages look the same with the saplings. The bonemeal just adds a
value to the grow stage, as does the random block updater in the game.

What about this one:
If a sapling has been blocked from growing for a very long amount of time,
and then you remove the things that blocked the sapling, will it then grow
faster then if you would have replaced the sapling?

My friend had asked me this just the other day, and I thought it would of
been a good idea to suggest to you. But your video came out first! Awesome!
I’m really suprised the answer was “yes” as well…

Dear Xisuma,
Can you do a video and snow falling at high Y levels in different biomes?
I’ve heard that it’s only in taiga and extreme hills biomes, but I think
it’s in all biomes, you just need to build high enough.
Thanks,
SPC

I read in a few comments, that the hitzone of monsters produce different
drops. Especially hitting Wither Skeletons at the head. Is this true?

During the snapshot it always took 3 bonemeal to grow a sapling, each
bonemeal gave it one stage of growth, althought after the update came out
there wassent always going to give the sapling one stage of groth anymore
now theres about a 60 prosent chance every piece of bonemeal will effect
the sapling but if the sapling do get affected it goes to stage one, then
stage two, then it grows.
