Cube World vs Trove – Gameplay Comparison
You asked for it so here it is! A comparison of Cube World and Trove based on my experiences with both games during early access. They may look practically identical on the surface but dig…

I kinda blew Trove off after the Cubeworld fiasco but looks interesting.
Watching this also made me want to fire up Cubeworld again. Thanks for the
info!

Thanks for the info Paul! I’ve been trying to decide if I want to buy Cube
World for my channel and this certainly helped :)

I think I’ll get Cube World, I love how it gives true RPG experience.
Thanks Paul!

I think one of the biggest differences you forgot to mention is the
differences between the developers of both games. Trove is very community
driven from what Ive seen. They constantly are emailing polls for content
the community would like added next (or in general ideas of content) where
as Cube Worlds developer hasnt from what ive seen. he is a sole guy making
the game, which Is why I dont give him a hard time about the slow release
of updates. Its bound to be hard for one guy. But I havent seen him really
dive in to the community/fans of cube world either and ask their opinions
of what content they might like, or want added, ect. Thats a big difference
imo and can easily affect a persons decision for either game. Some people
love having a game the community can actually affect whereas othersn dont
really care at all and just want frequent content updates.

Trove got uninteresting for me when I saw the ingame shop……
Cubeworld is dead for me since the dev disapeared for a year without
information – this is something a dev that took the money can´t do. Today
you need to keep the people financing you informed. So – both games are not
for me.

Hope this helps! Please chime in if you have any information about the
subjects I was unsure about and/or you want to correct any errata!
Hopefully the developers will pop in and clear the air on certain topics as
well.

In my opinion, I would like to have it more of a MMO like Trove. I wish
there was a choice to head over to a hub and do stuff there. THEN CubeWorld
would be my favorite.

Straight off Picroma. x3 Planned: Housing
We’re planning to enable players to build their own house. Players will be
able to store items, trophies, pets etc. in their house and extend the
house gradually.

I think they both have their merrits. However I’m holding off on either
one until they get a bit more development (and until I stop being motion
sick).
As I recall, when it first came out, people were getting on Cube World’s
case for being a “minecract clone” as well. Seems nobody is satisfied with
a game on just it’s own…they have to compare it to other games. ~eyeroll~

Trove looks like minecraft meets borderlands

This was a really great and helpful video. I would really love it if you
did reviews like this once in a while.

I think that once cube world gets a few more big updates, (such as the
quest update) and it gets out of this early stage, then I bet most people
won’t pick sides but instead play both games for different experiences as
there will be more dynamic features in cube world that might attract larger
audiences throughout this vast land known as the internet. I also think
that after this quest update, the game will be reborn as you can craft your
own adventure, yet this time there will be more ways to do so. The style
the developers chose for there games (as paul said) Trove will always
thrive in quick and small updates whilst cube world will come at you with
rare and HUGE updates with each one putting the popularity rating of cube
world a few steps ahead of trove as it waits for trove to come back up to
par via hundreds of updates. Plus, the rarity of the updates in cube world
will make its players more great full for each update whereas trove’s
somewhat seamless updates won’t make as much progress as quickly as a large
cube world update by wollay and his bride.

Cube world’s dungeons aren’t randomly scattered, they’re in a grid.
