If you are going to control a massive area for spawning, I’m pretty sure levling the surface isn’t a bad option either.

so, paraphrasing, a mob can’t spawn on string if there is not an air block within 20 blocks of it on the same y-axis.

No. No it doesn’t. It grows at the same speed. Have you even looked up mythbusting videos about it? There are a ton and they all prove the same thing.

Glad to see this back, it was missed. Hopefully minecraft science won’t be far behind, even though it had just a couple of episodes, it was interesting to know the new items in depth. Keep up the good work, Xisuma.

I have a project Idea if your game…
I have always wanted to see a really keep time clock in Mincraft,,,And I just not that good .
I know Day And Night Cycles are diffent…but in my head the clock is at center of my home,,,And chimes on hours,,and I link all my redstone thought out to it…
If you wanted to take that on,, I would like to see it..

True, though string can work as a trip wire as well.. and thus be a sneaky ass bastard and them as a traps as well. :P *blowing up an entire island top because you can, just because someone else visited it’s island and to be evil.*

Well, since you make the higher, probably nothing will happen, the width is still the same, but if you were to increase the width, then maybe they would have a bigger chance to spawn since there are more blocks, but if you make them higher then i believe nothing will happen

the joke started with blocking falling snow, then escalated into blocking mobs spawning and lightning protection.
