What if u make it detect if u have 65 items in the furnace then if u have it full of nether rack and it has no blaze rods it will go off

put the comparator from the the hopper feeding fuel into the furnace, into a block with a red stone lamp on it, then when hopper is empty the light goes out and you know ya need to top up before the furnace runs out, that`s how i did it

You should make buckets from the iron golem farm, go fill it with the lava, and put it in the furnace instead

just to let you know empty buckets come out of the bottom with smelted items post 1.5.1
