And have like a door bell using note blocks and a button. If you don’t know how to make note blocks its wood around red stone in a crafting tabble:D

Hey John if you want to compact the mechanism that powers the blocks under the torches
you can use repeaters and point them toward the blocks then you can have all of the circuitry on one side of the door and it will be nice and compact :)

but you can use a torch stack to get up if you want to use a button and have it use redstone to go down it would look sharp and 1 or 2 inverters would make it all quite compact and sharp looking
pressure plates might be an option as well :)
