Are slimes more likely to spawn on slimeblocks?

I started writing a load of comments about each of your tests again, I
won’t spam the comment section this time round, but Xisuma if you want an
explanation on the FPS drops with some of these tests add me on Skype;

I have a lot to say it seems, I am a graphics and game engine programmer by
profession so if you want to get into the specifics then send me an IM

Just in-case your a little baffled why we didn’t test mobs, these test take
a long time to do, mainly waiting for MC edit to copy blocks over and over.
We will come back to lag busting again soon and cover mobs is as much
detail as i can so let me know any ideas / question you have :-)

If slime blocks are transparent, how can mobs spawn on them?

“But I don’t think anyone would be foolish enough to do that” Mhm, I do
remember some sort of *GIANT PORTAL FARM* on the previous Hermitcraft world
;-)

How much lag can make when you use a superflat world that a item frame one

Hey Xisuma,
DO
spawners, active hoppers(like moving items in a circle), dirt that has been
hoe’d, grass, sea lanterns, stairs, ice, active noteblocks/active
juceboxes, vines/ladders, tripwire hooks(connected), the new doors,
daylight sensors, a lot of powered blocks/trapdoors, boat’s on water,
leads, and animated textures in item frames(like netherstars, sealanterns)
CAUSE LAG?

Allmost 300k, been so nice over the years watching you. Just wanted to ask,
do you have something special in store for us?

“No one would be foolish enough to build such a crazy pigman farm” -Xisuma,
the man with the crazy pigman farm

Thanks Xisuma! I finally found the cause of my lag SIGNS!!!

I’ve never considered hoppers causing frame rate issues as it has no
special rendering. Would be interested in how much lag (block lag if you
wish) they cause. My guess is that they don’t cause any lag directly but
would cause the server to bog down and that in turn could cause some lag.
but frame rates should only be affected when going from multiple items on
top of the hopper to single item and then from single item to none As those
are the only parts the OpenGL/DirectX or Internal renderer get involved.

ok so you consistently said “I dont think you will ever have enough of *___*
to cause lag (or to worry about)” but that isn’t the point. the fact that
they do cause lag means that when those items are along side the many other
lag causes in minecraft they are all just going to add up and that is where
you start getting lag. you may not have heaps of the same item but as you
have shown, there are many different items in the game that cause lag so
every small contributor means it should be something to think about.

Can mobs spawn on flowers on grass blocks?
December 8th, 2014 at 8:30 AM
this is actually really important to do! I should absolutely do some videos
and tests on what causes how much lag too. great video!

Hey X how about testing redstone dust(placed) ,comparators and repeaters

6:06 Challenge. Accepted. I will do it

Xisuma, you messed up the hopper test again. Hoppers do a perpetual test
for item-entities when there are no containers or impeding blocks above
them, or in other words when there is open air above them; so you once
again made it so that there was only one set of hoppers at the very top
which will do this test and possibly cause more lag.
edit: never mind! I rewatched it and I must not have been paying attention
because you did it properly. :)
