Minecraft Mob Guide – The Zombie
The Minecraft Zombie comes from the depths of the darkness. Since version 1.2, these are the leaders of the horde, breaking open doorways, allowing the other demons of darkness to charge in for the kill. These flesh-eating fiends are the most common monster in Minecraft, so be prepared for a lot of battles with these guys. This is the forth episode in a series of Minecraft Mob Guides, where we look at all the hostile AND passive mobs in Minecraft in detail. In this episode, we take a look at the Zombie, a defiled human, distorted to the very edge of a human’s definition. The fiends walk around through the darkness, awaiting your fascinating flesh. A zombie is a hostile mob that closely resembles the player. A zombie measures 2 blocks tall, 1 block wide, and 0.25 blocks thick. Zombies spawn in dimly lit areas and attack players by shambling towards them and touching them. Like skeletons, zombies catch fire in sunlight. Villagers currently are constantly being attacked by zombies and having sieges with them; the Iron Golem was added to protect them.

Jungle River – Minecraft Old World, New Map #6
I’m slowly moving my first world buildings over to a new map in the Jungle (and building some new things as well). NEW Minecraft Snapshot 12w08a: Iron Golem – Overview
The Iron Golem comes crashing onto the new snapshot 12w08a. It defends villages with it’s mighty brutality and their hardened Iron shells make them amongst the toughest mobs in the game. The snapshot also brings improved world and lighting, as well as the ability to place stairs upside-down. Iron Golems roam villages slowly and are passive to the player. When provoked, Iron Golems will move toward their target at a faster rate, swinging their arms up violently once in range to attack. This does 3½ to 10 hearts damage to their target. They will attack Endermen, Zombie Pigmen, Blazes, Silverfish, Skeletons, Spiders, Cave Spiders, and Zombies if any come within their sight. They will attack the player if the player attacks it first, or if the player attacks a Villager (Only in Survival Mode). The Iron Golem does not have to directly see the player attacking a Villager to become hostile toward the player. They do not despawn if the difficulty is switched to peaceful and will continue to attack the player. Iron Golems do not attack Creepers, likely due to a Creepers destructive nature which may destroy sections of the village. They also do not attack Slimes, Magma Cubes, or Ghasts. It is possible for Iron Golems to accidentally attack one another, although this will deal no damage nor provoke them against each other. Upon death, Iron Golems drop three to five Iron Ingot, and sometimes one or two roses. If an Iron Golem generated as part of a NPC Village is killed, it will …
