can you build a tunnel from the entrance to the factories (going under the city) then the traffic will maybe be easier

get the power plant. jobs + power

Also to help traffic and your jobs add more commercial. But dot it across the city. People will walk there instead of driving. And it will create jobs.

Bigger buses might be better suited for your street-heavy layout.

build an airport

it could just be a good idea to put another avenue straight through, the same way as your main road. Try to put it in a place where not too many high wealth buildings get destroyed, that will also create some lower wealth citizens.

streetcars would be useless, as you would need to demolish half your city to put down the avenues for them. You need a good mass transit system. Bus Depot (the big one) with paired bustops (one either side of the road) in ALL parts of your city (not just the residential) and a connection to the rail that has a bustop near it will all help imensely with your traffic problem. If you want streetcars you have to plan for them from the start by laying out a medium avenue core to upgrade later.

adding the bus terminal or even better the double decker bus terminal will make all the difference.
the double decker can hold 100 sims each, and it can be upgrade to 24 buses. When i first started playing simcity5, i made a city much like the one you have now. and it was stuck around 160k, but after adding 2 maxed double decker bus terminals. the traffic resolved it self and the city grew to 367k

Ok, this is my 2 cents. your biggest problem is your layout. Its a good way to start up a city quickly but it doesn’t work long term, if it did real cities would use it. You gotta think more about reality, add more avenues because thats how people get from on side to another quickly. You also are thinking wrong with the intersections, you don’t need to have as least as possible, you gotta have them as efficiently as possible.

Xisuma, about traffic, I found this very helpful.
Also he has very interesting videos about SimCity, so you should definitely check him out.

Solar plants are honestly a waste of time. Your city is very educated so you might as well get a nuclear power plant . It should provide enough power for your entire city and more. If you do decide to do it, look at the wind map and place it in the corner that the wind is plowing to.

you could try a giant zig zag with curves at each turn so that it is one long road
April 1st, 2013 at 9:15 AM
the nuclear power plant is 100% green, all you need is a university educating enough sims to run it safely.

Did you seriously just lower taxes for the wealthiest 1%? tsk tsk, xisuma, tsk tsk
Tips, add more bus terminals and park n rides dotted throughout the city. with that population you need MASS transit, not just a few busses.

build street cars

Streetcars and nuclear plants are the way to go IMHO.

Oh, and more park and rides will help a lot too, put them on one side of the road with a busstop opposite.

Streetcars and buses will help alleviate your traffic congestion. Also maybe take a risk and make most of the main streets avenues
