Last episode, I began building a spawner to collect gunpowder. Today, I’ll enchant some sheers with silk touch, so I can use cobwebs in my spawner timer-switch. Does dropping items into the nether reset their despawn timer? If so you could collect items at the portal entrance, and set up a timer to drop them thru in <5 min intervals. That would reduce the time the nether is loaded significantly (a few seconds every 5 minutes instead of a few seconds every few seconds), theoretically extending the time items take to despawn practically indefinitely. Has anyone tested this already?

The new snapshot would be helpful for choosing potions if you have multiples in your hotbar. That could be one idea.

18 is the minimum level assuming a book’s enchantability is the lowest possible. Which from 3 stacks of books in a creative world, it seems to be 1 or 2.

You can expose the book enchanting even more by doing the same but with a stick and it will never break!

Items only despawn in the nether if it is loaded. So if you dump them through a portal you can pick them up on your next trip though.

Especially if they could actually pick up glass blocks.
