Minecraft Snapshot – Ladders + Biome Updates
Minecraft Snapshot [12w01a] just came out with a few minor updates and bug fixes. Now that they’ve removed the collision effects from ladders, you don’t take fall damage on them, but you can no longer use ladders to prevent other items from falling (like minecarts). This caused my minecart elevator to break, so I’ll show a couple alternative ways to fix the issue. The new Minecraft snapshot added a “SuperFlat” world type, however it’ quickly gets covered with slimes and friendly mobs because it’s not covered with half-blocks / slabs. This obviously wont help much if you’re testing a mob-spawner design in a test world… So I’ve made a download file for this superflat map, but I’ve added a layer of half-blocks on the top. Farming Update – Minecraft 1.1
In the two latest Minecraft Snapshot updates (11w49a and 12w01a), a few changes to farming have been made. Melons no longer require tilled soil to grow, and apples can fall from trees. Boat Dispenser (& angry Pigmen) – LP #29
My Boat Jump is finally complete! I’ve completed the EATS Road and a Boat Dispenser attached to it as well. After I tour that, we’ll venture into the nether to visit the now ever-hostile Pigmen… the latest Minecraft snapshot has made pigmen angry all the time. This could get messy. Nice Melons! Farm – Minecraft LP #30
With the new Minecraft snapshot enabling melons to grow on untilled dirt or grass, we don’t need a huge bud-switch contraption for each melon seed. Moving ‘First World’ to a New Map (PART 1) – Minecraft 1.1
NOTE: I recorded this pre-1.1, so I’m now aware that zombies don’t swim. :) ————————————————————————————————- My old world (‘First World’ playlist) is now freezing over due to new biome changes… So I need to transfer the buildings to a new map. I’ve found a great 1.x map that will bring my old buildings up to date with the new terrain, mineshafts, nether, etc. In this video, we move my double-spaceship mob-spawner building over to the new map. NEW Golden Apple Recipe – Minecraft 1.1
Minecraft 1.1 is officially out, and the recipe for Golden Apples is much easier to achieve. However instead of replenishing full health, a golden apple gives you 2 hunger bars and 5 seconds of regeneration… making them a great ‘edge of death’ food to survive. Minecraft Jungles! (Snapshot 12w03a)
Minecraft Snapshot 12w03a was just released, and the most significant change is a new “jungle biome”. The trees have new blocks and are huge, and vines can be climbed like ladders. Nice!
