Easy Superflat Slab World [Snapshot 12w40] – Minecraft Tutorial
If you’ve ever built a mob spawner, you know that a superflat slab test map is the best place to do testing, because mobs cant spawn anywhere else on the map. Now that Minecraft Snapshot 12w40a is out, you can customize a superflat map to have half-block slabs so you’ll get no more slimes everywhere!! And it’s simple to create, and requires no mods or mc edit! Enjoy! ——————————————————– Texture Pack: (Customized) John Smith. Change it to cake block. Mobs don’t spawn on cake and it’s delicious! =D

Its not a new release, you must download it from mojang . com ! You have to replace minecraft.jar with the snapshot’s jar in your bin folder at %appdata%.

Yes every type of slabs work

Bottom half slabs count as transparent blocks. Most hostile mobs need a non-transparent block (aka whole block like cobblestone) and 2 air blocks above the block in order to spawn (if difficulty is >peaceful). (Endermen require 3 air blocks, I’m not sure what spiders need for air block requirement, 1 or 2 I’m thinking)
