The Comparator- Behavior changes in snapshot 13w05b
In the snapshot released 2/1/13, some of the comparator behavior has been fixed. And some other things have been broken. Some very important things… Find more Minecraft Addict Videos at r/minecraftaddict: www.reddit.com

You can make a fast pulse dispenser by powering it with a torch from the side, then put the comparator 1 block away from the back side and then put redstone from the front of the comparator and loop it to the side of the comparator (which is on subtract mode). Then you have a fast pulsing dispenser! Check out sethblings review of 13w05b to see it!

Yes. It was a bug and they fixed it intentionally. I’m sorry I implied otherwise in the video.

They are just 1 timers, if you really see a video which is good you go check it’s channel. I saw one of MCAddict videos long time ago and kept, looking in his channel then subbed.

Ya. I should figure out how to do that.

mcassict, i think it might have been a bug that the comparators made the click thing.

You deserve way more views D:
Thanks for all that new information :)

I think the monostable using the A and B inputs is messed up because they changed the updates to the comparator.

Ya, I don’t always get that. That’s just when I’m standing still. Unfortunately, it drops to about 30 when I’m recording.

same here :/

It sucks that they broke the BUD updating thing :-(

from what i understand, the fast block breakage is intentional. As it will no longer cause updates like it used to.

The only reason the test on the left took so much longer to load was because the redstone would go all the way through the comparators while the right side would go through half the comparators and the redstone would turn the other comparators on

I agree 100% with all your complaints. Also I don’t know about you but my performance seems to have taken a hit in this snapshot.

Hmm. I’m getting ~400fps in 13w04a and 13w05b.

since they broke the original functionality of the comparators along with fixing their timing and redstone updating behaviour, i hope that at least one of the nice features they “fixed” as well will have to come back.
i am no programmer, but i have a feeling that the “compare” part of the comparator game code might have operated “in between” redstone ticks, so if you added redstone between comparators, one comparator would always have to wait for the redstone dust to be updated.

Yeah, I don’t have that kind of horsepower on a good day. It’s not really my frame rate that is bad but I get shuddering when chunks update now. Still I hope they fix the compatriots issue with updating and add in a new block to replace the lost “features” that they removed in the bug fix. :)

the fast clock is elementary, unfortunately this update breaks any one wide designed that relied on that “feature”.

For those who are complaining about comparators not causing infinite block updates / the super fast clock, there is indeed a new way to do this that is still quite compact (It takes up a 2x2x1 space instead of a 1x1x1 space though): /watch?v=LPzmweqkMno#t=562s

Feel free to share it with a friend. Or several. Or post it on every forum you know. Hmm.. That might be pushing it.

you should make a outro like seathbling so when he gives u a shout out and people watch your video they have a 2nd video to click on then a 3rd and so on and you get more views :P instead of getting like 10,000 on 1 video and 200 on the next…
