I like these vids.

I tried a one wide, one deep, two high and a 1x1x3 and they didn’t seem to perform that well.

have you tried 3 wide?

This is fun stuff. It really just takes trial and error to get this to work well, but a good start is a simple cannon design, with a second block of TNT added to the shot, that gets lit a few ticks after the original shot.

To avoid needing that piston to prevent the tnt jumping off to the side, you can just set the tnt off higher up, and just drop it into the same place. Also, thanks for these vids :) Always glad to ask more tnt science questions ;). It’s been a while, but I used to make cannons that could fire blocks outside of the loaded chunks, and self-reloading, semi-auto cannons. I’m not sure if they can still be made that powerful, but I hope you continue testing until we find out :P

Sethbling did a vid on why fences are better, try lowering the fence a block, and test all cannons in all directions, zirumshero or something makes cool cannons!

The cannons in the second part of the video that have the TNT at a height of 2, try instead stacking the TNT higher in the one position. Drop all the charge into the first block behind the gravel, that should power things up a bit.

What was the farthest you could fire a TNT and have it impact and explode on the ground?
January 18th, 2013 at 8:18 AM
what if you just add a metric crap ton of tnt

I like cake myself.

I’ll load up an old test world and have a few goes. I believe it is still possible to get it out of loaded chunks, but explosions were changed a while ago. In previous versions, the TNT would explode on the ground, even at that distance.

I remember watching an old race for the wool tournament where a team had a cannon shot two tnt blocks having the first detonate midair propelling the second further. Do you think this could be replacated?

I find this strange, that style always worked well in the past for me. Shall have a go

Ya, those work good for aiming but you sacrifice power.

Hrm.. if you leave a gap in between your two-wide cannon, so it’s effectively two one-wide cannons next to each other with the gravel in the middle, that’d make it go straight.
