Check out Capitainsparklez mobavator (the one he did for the skyblock series) its like an alternating water sign, with the last one on the side you want them to go, flowing how long you want them to. just make it above the cooker wall. Also, the water stoping and mushrooms stuck problem, just raise the back streams or lower the end ones, so you get one source running for 7 blocks, dropping one, run more 7. And put a ceiling so they dont jump and fight the current.

With regards to the mushrooms collecting in the dead spots, you could place fence gates instead of glass, like at the end of the shearing bay, then have a mushroom collection stream below.

I like the double piston, but do you think it might look better if it was normally extended instead of normally lowered? Then when you press the button it could lower, the back one could push forward then the circuit resets to normally extended again? I also like the idea of a pressure plate, but it can’t leave the back piston extended or the mushrooms will flow right over it… Don’t feel bad about this episode, we all go through this when we make a new machine.
