You never ever at all, double-tap when you’re using it to get down a drop. The item does not refresh until you actually land, once you’ve double-tapped. When you’re using it to clear a drop, don’t tap the item until you’re about to hit something, otherwise you’ll only fall to your death (like you’ve done countless times thus far).
