Hi Paul, I think it is not a bad idea to merge these series’ worlds, but consider in “removing” some of the chunks further away from the tutorial “town”, that were created with MC 1.0(?).

If you remove those old chunks, they will be generated with the new world generators. Else you would have to run very, very far to get the new MC features.

I don’t think the people will really miss some NPC village far far away created in the current world but they’d miss all the new stuff.
