The wheat farm should still work, you just need to add 7 times more bonemeal into the dispenser. This is because the wheat only breaks when it updates, so just adding one bonemeal shouldn’t update it.

me too, so much. Its silly! If they want to make bonemeal more balanced, they could just make bones give you 1 per bone.

So, the right way to farm would be to make a machine that gives bones and seeds to you, and have you grow wheat right before your eyes… yaaaa…
