It should say ‘Fewer’ instead of ‘Less’ in the title, since pistons are
quantifiable :P

Is it possible that when a sugarcane is a about to grow and at the exact
same time the piston will be on top of it so it will prevent it from
growing? hope you understand :P

This idea is great! Although, couldn’t you use a bud switch on the back
(reducing the amount of piston firing)? Genius idea though!
