yo should build your official base in a mushroom biome, hostile mobs do not spawn there. To find a mushroom biome you should use AMIDST.

Hooray for making a sword! Of course, I was tearing my hear out when you had the iron in the furnace and went outside to hunt mobs with your stone sword. :) I must be paranoid, because one of the first things I do is make the best possible weapon I can.

I’ll second MrAag68 on what you should make with the iron: two iron picks, a bucket, and an iron sword. Even if you don’t move the farm away from the shore, it’s not a bad idea to carry a bucket of water around just in case you run into lava.

You should make a bucket out of the iron, it comes in useful a whole lot more than you think! When you find a bit more iron you should probably make some amour too! Seems like you need it :P

I think you didn’t really recognize but I was in the “comment”-screen twice. I feel somewhat honored :) Looks like you also forgot about the fact that you knock mobs (especially creepers) back when you hit them while sprinting! Always keep that in mind, it’s really helpful! Also save your farm from mobs with a wooden fence even though it only gets destroyed when they jump on it. Now as you have some torches, build a fenced up area and put torches to make animals spawn (good food supply too).
